Editorial policy

These are the rules every article is checked against before it is published. They are enforced by a checker that reads each article and refuses one that breaks a mechanical rule; the rest is editorial judgement.

A figure is sourced or it is not stated

A distance, an area, a population, a date, a height, a fee, a count: each one carries a citation to a page the editors fetched, and that page is listed at the foot of the article with the date it was read. A search-result snippet is not a source. Where no source could be found, the article says so.

Figures are copied, not rounded

A number appears with the unit and the year the source gives it. Where two sources disagree, both are given with their citations and the disagreement is stated.

Third person, no advice

Articles describe. They do not recommend a hotel, rank a beach, suggest a best time to visit or give directions. A fee may be recorded as a dated fact; it is never a tip. Visiting questions are handed to the sister guides.

Identifiers are verified

A Wikidata item number and the Wikipedia links on an article were looked up and confirmed to describe the same thing. A wrong identifier is worse than none, so an unverified one is left out.

Dates are real

The date on an article is the day its sources were last read. Rebuilding the site does not change it. A date in the future, or a publication date after a modification date, fails the build.

The 2025 reform is stated plainly

On 1 July 2025 the city of Nha Trang was abolished as an administrative unit, with every other district-level unit in Vietnam, and its 22 wards and communes were regrouped into four wards. Articles say which ward a place is in now and which unit it was in before, where the sources allow, and keep the former wards and communes as articles because that is what people, maps and addresses still say.

Restricted places

Where access to a place is restricted, by a marine protection rule, a military designation or a provincial decision, the article states the restriction and its legal basis and never anything that reads as an invitation.

What is never published

Private individuals, contact details, allegations, invented quotations, an editor's working notes, and anything that reads as an invitation to enter a restricted military area.

Corrections

A reader who finds an error is asked to name the article, the line and, where possible, a source. Corrections are applied to the research record, and the article is rebuilt from it, so a fixed figure cannot quietly return.
